The Airport

Here I am at Gatwick, ten past 8 on a Sunday night, having just sampled the delights of McDonalds' 'late night' menu, and paid my pound for a bit of internet access, of which I am already down to 81p. Best get a move on then.

I'm not concerned yet, but casually curious about the fact that there appears to be no Oman Air check in desk, nor does the BAA Gatwick Airport website seem to be aware that my flight exists. Hope fully this is all just coincidence and I have booked a real flight with a real airline that does, as promised on the ticket sent to me by post, leave at 10.30 this evening. Its probably because I'm here so early its bordering on paranoia.

Other than the mild panic I'm feeling about my travel this evening, everything else seems to be going well. I have my ticket (validity to be confirmed), I have my insurance documents, my money, my medkit, my sleeping bag, my mosquito net, my toiletries my...I really can't be arsed listing everything I have. I'm boring myself telling you about it.

Suffice to say I feel prepared. I'm not looking forward to having to negotiate Bangkok on my own at 2am when I land at the other end, but feel fairly confident that it will all be ok when I get there. My trusty guide tells me so.

Right then, bugger all this internet lark, I'm off to find out whether the extrtionate amount of money I paid for my ticket is actually going to guarantee me (relatively) safe passage to the other side of the world tonight.

I'll write more when there is stuff to write.

Peace

Jim
